Community Volunteers represent the poison center at health fairs and other events sponsored by the general public by communicating the poison center’s life-saving and cost-cutting information via displays and presentations. Being a Community Volunteer also offers the advantage of gaining clear understanding of poison center services and poison prevention knowledge. To find out if you quality for a Community Volunteer position, call the Education Office with the Florida/USVI Poison Information Center - Jacksonville at (904) 244-4465. Remember, if you suspect a poisoning has occurred, or if you have questions concerning poisonings, immediately call the Poison Center at (800) 222-1222. When the problem is poison, the answer is poison control.
