Arts in Medicine at Shands Jacksonville coordinates the ongoing effort in the production and installation of engaging or meaningful artwork by local artists, education partners and community organizations throughout Shands Jacksonville.

Some of the projects that are ongoing or have already been completed include:

  • Emergency Department - Paintings by Douglas Anderson School of the Arts
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Portraits of Hope
  • Trauma Unit - Portraits of Hope.
  • Pediatric Emergency Unit - Partnered with Emergency staff and Radio Disney to makeover murals throughout the unit with Disney themes.
  • Literary Arts - 2009 will mark thee on set of coached journaling as a resource to cope with emotions. Anticipate curriculum to begin in the summer months throughout the bedside program.
