Billing and Insurance

Hospitalization coverage is a contract between the patient and the patient's insurance company. Shands Jacksonville accepts most insurance and will make every effort to expedite a claim. If you have acceptable hospitalization insurance at the time of your admission, a cash deposit will not be necessary. You may, however, be asked to pay a deductible or co-payment, depending upon your insurance plan.

If your insurance is not sufficient, you may be asked to make a deposit before you are admitted. The amount of the deposit will depend upon your diagnosis and expected length of stay. Charges for any and all services are payable with cash, check or credit card. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.
