Nursing Research
Conducting nursing research is one way that Shands Jacksonville nurses contribute to the nursing profession. Basing practice on the best evidence available and contributing to this body of evidence are key behaviors exhibited by professional nurses. Nursing research at Shands is guided by the Nursing Research Council.
Shands welcomes the conduct of nursing research by appropriately qualified nurse researchers and students pursuing advanced degrees in nursing who are conducting their thesis/dissertation research. Interested nurse researchers can learn more about nursing research by joining the Shands Jacksonville team.
Nursing Research Council (NRC)
The Nursing Research Council strives to create a practice environment that promotes innovation, evidence-based practice and clinical scholarship, where nurses view research as valued, accessible and important to nursing practice. NRC activities offer opportunities for novice to expert nurses to expand their knowledge of and participation in research and evidence-based practice projects. The ultimate purpose is to promote quality patient care through excellence in clinical practice, improve outcomes and to promote the professional image of nursing.
