Shands Jacksonville offers pediatric services that are unique to its designation as a Level III Neonatal Center and the region's only Level I Trauma Center. The University of Florida Division of Pediatric Surgery is specifically qualified to support these special services, both of which represent the highest designation of care in two critical areas.

With a comprehensive outpatient surgery center, the division also offers a full range of outpatient pediatric surgical care. This is provided in concert with anesthesia specialists using modern techniques of pain control that results in more than 95 percent of children having no postoperative pain.
