The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville Division of Pediatric Cardiology provides highly specialized cardiac care for babies and children. The University of Florida faculty physicians are available through consultation or referral even before a baby is born and throughout childhood. The patient's obstetrician, pediatrician or primary care physician will assist in the referral process and maintain a close working relationship with the cardiologist throughout diagnostic tests and procedures and any surgical care, as well as help parents manage the ongoing daily care of their child.

Medical Services

The pediatric cardiology specialists in the division provide the following services:

  • Fetal cardiology with prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease
  • Advanced arrhythmia management, including radiofrequency ablation, pacemaker implantation and implantable cardiac defibrillators
  • Interventional catheterization including balloon valvotomy and angioplasty, placement of intravasacular stents and trans catheter closure of atrial septal defects, patent ductus arteriosus and muscular ventricular septal defects
