The Shands Jacksonville Neuroscience Institute includes a nationally recognized interdisciplinary team of University of Florida neurologists and neurosurgeons. By participating in numerous national and international research projects and investing in the most sophisticated technology available, the institute offers state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative neurology services.
The Neuroscience Institute encompasses some of the region's premiere medical programs, including a stroke program which received the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission and was the first program in North Florida to receive accreditation from the Agency for Health Care Administration as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The institute also houses dedicated programs for epilepsy, movement disorders/Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disease and sleep disorders.
