The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville physicians in the Division of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology work closely with other members of the healthcare team at Shands Jacksonville, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-ophthalmologists and head and neck specialists (otolaryngologists). The division provides both noninvasive diagnostic imaging of the brain, spinal cord and surrounding structures, as well as image-guided interventional procedures on the blood vessels of the brain, spine and vertebral column that might otherwise require invasive surgical procedures. The imaging modalities include magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, computed tomography (CT), nuclear imaging (including SPECT and PET) and fluoroscopy during either diagnostic angiographic procedures or catheter/needle-based interventions. The service collaborates closely with the Department of Neurology.
