The physicians of the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville Division of Infectious Diseases specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of infectious and communicable diseases, including sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. In addition, the division's six board-certified infectious disease physicians provide refugee health screenings, rabies immunizations, adult travel medicine and general infectious disease consultations.

The division provides inpatient and infection control services at Shands Jacksonville, as well as diagnostic and outpatient care for patients seen at the Duval County Health Department Communicable Diseases Clinics. The division's UF faculty physicians are actively involved in clinical research directed at improving the knowledge and therapy of infectious diseases. In addition, they actively participate in the training of medicine residents and infectious diseases fellows.

The division operates the UF Travel and Tropical Medicine Clinic and also collaborates with the Duval County Health Department Division of Communicable Diseases to provide consultation in the areas of epidemiology and bioterrorism.
