The University of Florida Division of General Internal Medicine provides comprehensive primary care for adolescents beginning at age 16 to the elderly. Outpatient services are offered at three separate locations: the Ambulatory Care Center at Shands Jacksonville, the University of Florida Faculty Clinic on the Shands Jacksonville campus and the University of Florida Internal Medicine at Emerson.
UF faculty physicians also see patients admitted to the medicine team at Shands Jacksonville. Medical care is provided by physicians comprised of one faculty physician, three internal medicine residents and a third-year medical student.
Additionally, the division offers two unique services to the Jacksonville community:
A board-certified geriatrician provides outpatient geriatric services, including a comprehensive geriatric assessment clinic, as well as a dementia clinic.
Jacksonville Health and Transition Services (JaxHATS) provides primary care and a medical home to adolescents and young adults with chronic medical conditions who are transitioning from their pediatricians and pediatric specialists. This clinic is conducted in concert with a member of UF Community Pediatrics.
