Breast Health
Each day, as many as 500 American women are diagnosed with breast cancer. But because of the advancements made in early detection and diagnosis, the majority of women live five years or longer.
Early detection is essential for surviving breast cancer. Mammograms, self-exams and breast health screenings can give you a head start in the race against this disease. The American Cancer Society recommends a baseline mammogram between the ages of 35 and 40, with annual mammograms after age 40.
The Breast Health Center at Shands Jacksonville offers advanced diagnostic care in a warm, welcoming environment. Your breast health team provides information and support, as well as a second opinion service to review your original pathology slides or mammography films. Our team will help you understand your diagnosis and treatment options. Our University of Florida physicians specialize in high-risk assessments and provide consulting and monitoring for patients at risk for breast cancer.
