The University of Florida Division of Abdominal and General Body Imaging at Shands Jacksonville provides an important liaison between the Department of Radiology and many different adult medical and surgical services. A wide diversity of clinical issues require radiologic consultation, including hepatic (liver), splenic (spleen), digestive, genitourinary and vascular diseases. The primary objective of the division is to provide non-invasive diagnostic imaging of the abdominal organs and adjacent structures, as well as some structures of the neck (carotid arteries and thyroid gland) and legs (veins). Available imaging methods include computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and contrast-enhanced fluoroscopy.
