Mission Statement
The Shands Jacksonville School of Radiologic Technology is an integral part of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center and shares its values. The School is committed to provide the healthcare community with exceptional graduates who are both academically and clinically perpared, using a comprehensive curriculum in contemporary radiography. This is accomplished in a facility that offers exceptional classroom and clinical space along with state of the art equipment and fully committed group of faculty, physicians, administrators and techinical staff.
Student preparation and learning is facilitated by a knowledgeable and caring faculty who provide students with the opportunity to develop the technical competence, critical thinking, problem solving and communications skills necessary to become a nationally certified Radiologic Technologist. These learning opportunities will help a diverse student body develop to its fullest potential and equip each sutdent with the ability to provide a high level of patient care. The faculty is committed to the concept of lifelong learning and promotes standards of clinical practice that will serve students throughout their professional careers.
Program Goals
- To provide our "communities of interest" with graduates who have skills and ability to perform and provide quality radiographic images, as an entry level radiographer.
- To facilitate the development of applied skills in critical thinking and problem solving, for the entry level radiographer.
- To emphasize the importance of maintaining professional growth and development for the entry level radiographer.
- To develop and provide learning opportunities that will provide effective communications skills for the entry level radiographer.
- To measure the overall effectiveness of the Program.
