Residency Programs
Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY-1 with Emphasis in Ambulatory Care)
The PGY-1 with Emphasis in Ambulatory Care residency provides the resident with experience and training focused in ambulatory care. The resident also gains experience in drug information, practice management, acute care, and research.
As a member of the healthcare team, the resident assumes responsibility and accountability for safe and appropriate drug therapy and efficient delivery of patient care. The resident is actively involved in teaching and research activities of the department.
The program offers flexibility and provides a strong foundation in pharmacy practice with a focus in ambulatory care. It is ASHP accredited. A teaching certificate program is also available through the University of Florida.
Program
Core rotations of the program consist of ambulatory care (6 months), drug information, departmental practice management, and internal medicine. The elective rotation can occur in emergency medicine, infectious disease, psychiatry, transitional care/geriatrics, cardiology, neonatology, surgery, poison control/toxicology, nutritional support, nephrology, neurology, pediatrics, OB/Gyn, oncology, informatics, academia, trauma, or medical critical care.

Application Requirements
Eligibility requirements for the PGY-1 with Emphasis in Ambulatory Care Residency Program include the following:
- Graduate from an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Eligible for licensure in the State of Florida – all residents must take their exams prior to the start of the residency
- On-site interview
- For non-resident alien applicants, authorization for employment that is valid through the residency period is required
