As a health care organization, it is important for UF Health Jacksonville to protect its patients and comply with standards set by regulatory agencies. We set a high standard of excellence because our volunteers directly interact with our customers and are ambassadors for our hospital in the community. It is solely the discretion of UF Health Jacksonville to accept or deny a volunteer applicant.

Student Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in our 2024 Summer Student Volunteer Program. The application submission process has ended for this summer’s program. Please contact us next year for information about next summer’s program.

Adult Volunteer Program

Time commitment

New volunteers are asked to make a commitment to serve 100 hours. Most volunteers work one four-hour shift each week. Some give more. Schedules are arranged to suit your availability.

Vacations and absences

We understand as a volunteer you have many other commitments. We are able to accommodate shift changes and absences due to illness or travel plans.

Getting started

Prior to starting as a UF Health Jacksonville Adult Volunteer, the following process must be completed:

  1. Complete Forms
    Complete the online application form. Once completed, you will be contacted by a Volunteer Services representative. If you require assistance with the application process, please contact us.

  2. Personal Interview
    After we receive your application, you will be contacted for an interview or you may call us to schedule an appointment.
  3. General Health Screening
    Our Employee Health Department screens volunteers for placement with the following:
    1. Health questionnaire
    2. Tuberculosis screening
    3. Proof of immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella and hepatitis B, are required to volunteer. Volunteers must provide this proof of immunity from either shot records and/or positive titers.
  4. General Orientation
    The volunteer orientation is offered online.
